This projects aims to build a small 40W CNC laser using makerslide
|
There is a need for a small and versatile CNC laser cutter/engraver at the Lab:
- Cut small wood / acrylic parts.
- Engave aluminium parts.
- PCB prototyping.
The devices should not require too much space, should be cheap and self-replicating, which means that the laser should be able to cut most of its own parts.
While searching the Internet, I found this small 40W laser CNC device inspired by Buildlog.net, using famous makerslide and arduino.
This laser seems to be a derivate from Shapeoko CNC. According to the authour, it was designed as a "self replicating" laser cutter engraver'.
If some members are interested, we can discuss building this Buildlog.net device shortly. Firstly, I would like to verify that the laser is really able to cut small parts of Aluminum, which I doubt.
