{{Project |name= CNC laser cutter/engraver, 40W |author= [[User:Jmpoure|jmpoure], Julien] |proposal_date= 15/05/2013 |abstract1= This projects aims to build a small 40W CNC laser cutter / engraver |tags= CNC, laser, cutter, engraver, CO2 |budget=1000€ |number_of_members= |estimated_time= Q3/Q4 2013 }}

This project aims to build a small laser CNC at the lowest possible cost in order to learn how to build a laser.

There is a need for a small and versatile CNC laser cutter/engraver:

  • Cutting small wood / acrylic parts.
  • Engaving aluminium parts.

The devices should not require too much space and should be cheap, around 1000 EUR maximum.

While searching the Internet, I found this small 40W CO2 laser device inspired by Buildlog.net, using famous makerslide/openrail and arduino.

This laser seems to be a derivate from Shapeoko CNC.

If some members are interested, we can discuss building this Buildlog.net device shortly.
